A brand-new version of the highly successful cyber security and resilience training for college and university students, ‘Cyber Resilience and You!‘, has been unveiled.

In the course, students, whatever their chosen subjects, will find lots of accessible, jargon-free, practical advice they can use in their everyday lives. Funded by the Scottish Government, developed in collaboration with Scottish universities and colleges, and in association with the National Cyber Security Centre, this updated edition of ‘Cyber Resilience and You!’ includes completely fresh content which will appeal to new and returning students alike:

Refreshed cast and context: All fictional characters, immersive text conversations, and examples of cyber threat are revamped so that the course remains interesting even to students who completed the module last year.

Up-to-date advice: The material is informed by, and reflective of, all the latest guidelines from the NCSC and leading cyber research.

New topics: Students are introduced to contemporary cyber challenges, such as how to use AI safely, how to set up passkeys, and how to protect their online profiles.

Neil Gray, Cabinet Secretary for Justice, said: “Cyber resilience must be a life-long and life-wide journey and building these skills early is more important than ever. That’s why the Scottish Government has funded this free training resource for all university and college students in Scotland, which will play a vital role in helping them understand cyber risks and how to protect themselves online.”

Last year, the online training was launched by the Minister for Higher and Further Education, nominated for ‘Best Security Awareness Campaign Award’ at the Scottish Cyber Awards, and adopted by over 60% of Scottish universities and colleges in Scotland.

It should be used, as the content is easily consumed by students, is very relevant to their day-to-day lives, and embedding cyber security awareness early is crucial.”

We encourage all colleges and universities in Scotland to get in touch so they can use this free resource to help protect their students from cyber threats.

90% of students who completed ‘Cyber Resilience and You!’ would recommend the module to other students. Students can access the training via their university or college or directly on the website of the ‘Cyber Scotland Partnership‘.
